Question

Is a Christian Science nurse like a nurse in the health care profession?

Answer

No, there is no valid comparison between the practice of a Christian Science nurse and that of a health care professional. But, as there are individuals who know nothing of Christian Science yet have Christly natures, there are medical nurses who express some of the same universal Christ qualities expressed by Christian Science nurses.

The Christian Science nurse does not:

  • Provide advice, counsel, or diagnosis.

  • Manipulate, massage, exercise, or provide physical therapy or therapeutic baths.

  • Utilize medical or alternative medical techniques or equipment.

  • Use cleansing solutions or other products that are purported to aid healing or bring relief from pain, soreness, itching, etc.

  • Provide any type of medication, drug, over-the-counter medicated products or supplies.

  • Supply food supplements or provide services such as intravenous feeding or force-feeding.

  • Provide Christian Science treatment to the patient nor usurp the responsibility for healing that resides between the patient and the Christian Science practitioner.

  • Act as a legal agent for the patient.

Question

What about serious problems-can Christian Science nurses help with those?
